Get ready to lace up your running shoes for a cause that matters! promoting Sustainability In The 6th edition of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Run 2024 is not just about fitness, it’s about fostering partnerships, development, and making a tangible impact on communities, including refugees in Uganda.
This year’s event is expected to gather over 50,000 participants from diverse sectors, including government, UN agencies, international organizations, corporate entities, civil society, youth groups, and the media.
The proceeds from the run will support the establishment of regional nursery beds to grow 20 million indigenous tree seedlings. This initiative aligns with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030) and aims to combat climate change while contributing to Uganda’s forest restoration efforts. For refugees, whose lives are often tied closely to the natural environment, these actions promote resilience, food security, and sustainable livelihoods.
Uganda hosts over 1.5 million refugees, many of whom face challenges in accessing basic resources and economic opportunities. Initiatives like the SDG Run help raise awareness about how environmental restoration directly benefits refugee settlements by providing sustainable resources such as firewood, fruit, and shade while mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.
Participating in the SDG Run is an opportunity to advocate for inclusivity and sustainability for all—refugees included. By running, you’re joining hands with thousands of others to highlight the importance of environmental conservation, partnerships, and equal opportunities for marginalized groups in Uganda.
Don’t miss this chance to be part of Uganda’s largest gathering for sustainable development. Together, we can build a future where everyone—including refugees—has the opportunity to thrive.
Run for refugees. Run for sustainability. Run for the planet.
Register today and help us take meaningful steps toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals!
