The Tubulire program, funded by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), is currently being implemented in Kampala and other cities outside the capital. The IRC serves as the lead partner, coordinating a consortium of local and international partners to deliver program interventions aimed at providing reliable information and resources for refugees, asylum seekers, and host communities in Uganda.
Addressing the Information Gap
Uganda hosts the largest number of refugees in Africa, with over 1.5 million individuals seeking refuge from countries such as South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Somalia, Burundi, Eritrea, and Ethiopia… Despite their resilience and determination, refugees face numerous challenges, including the lack of up-to-date, accurate, and accessible information. This information gap exposes them to risks such as exploitation, harm, misinformation, and difficulties in accessing basic services.
How Tubulire Works
Tubulire, meaning “tell us” in Luganda, is a digital platform that provides information and resources on various topics related to life in Uganda. The platform is available in multiple languages, ensuring that information is accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Tubulire provides information on legal rights and obligations, access to education and healthcare, employment and livelihood opportunities, social integration, housing options, safety and security guidelines, and COVID-19 updates.
Our Goal
Our goal is to empower refugees and host communities with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions and lead fulfilling lives. We believe that access to reliable information is a fundamental right and a crucial step towards building a more inclusive and supportive society for all.
